About Us
Cofiroute in figures
7 million, that's the average number of motorists who use the Cofiroute network
each year: 928 kilometers of highway (12% of the total French network), 42
service areas, 66 rest areas...
An extensive network that links the Paris Area to the west, southwest and center
of France. Every year, Cofiroute's 58 toll barriers handle close to 100 million
transactions.
History
Founded in 1970 by a group of construction companies and banks to manage the
concession for the A10 (Paris-Poitiers) and A11 (Paris-Le Mans) highways,
Cofiroute was for many years the only privately financed highway operator in
France. Cofiroute has always been a pioneer in its field: for example in 1988 it
created the first radio station in France entirely dedicated to motorists (Autoroute
FM). The company also maintains a lead in the area of highway safety. Cofiroute
was the first to install new shock-reducing median safety barriers along its
entire network.
A Group of international dimensions
Cofiroute's expertise in the areas of private toll highway concessions is
internationally recognized. Present in many countries (the United States, Great
Britain, Chile, Germany, Greece), the company posted net sales of €829 million
in 2003.
Cofiroute is a subsidiary of the VINCI Concessions (VINCI Group), world leader
in concessions, construction and related services. Other shareholders include
the COLAS Group and EIFFAGE. Cofiroute employs some 2,000 people worldwide.
